~~~STANDARDIZED TBIRD REGISTRY FORM~~~
PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND THIS ENTIRE STATEMENT
BEFORE ACCESSING THE THUNDERBIRD REGISTRATION FORM
With the approval of the Squarebirds Administrators and Moderators, and coordination, approval and assistance of John Rotella of the Tbird Registry, we are pleased to announce the following:
The standardized Tbird Registration Form has been added to the Technical Resource Library web page. You will be able to register your own personal Tbird(s) (or those that you find on eBay, Craigs List or other sources), through this form. Before you do so, you should have the following required information at your fingertips if you have it:  1. VIN #;  2. Year;  3. Body Style;  4. General condition using a check box choices;  5. Your non-specific location;  6. Your e-mail contact. There is also some additional optional information that you can provide:  1. Your name;  2. A more specific location;  3. History of the car, and your comments;  4. A picture of the Thunderbird, if you have one;  5. Registry Number if already in data base, if known. If you have the Data Plate information, that can be added also. John asks that you do NOT "test" the Form. It does work, flawlessly, and when you send "test" messages it costs him money; the Form builder charges per line of use, regardless if it is real or pretend. Even just "browsing" the Form, creates a blank data line entry and takes up space. So we want to encourage people not to open the Form unless they are prepared to actually use it. This is not an instant service. Every registration is validated by John personally before it is assigned a Registry Number and uploaded to the database. It takes some time to do this. Human eyes review each entry, including updates. So the confirmation email that is received is NOT the actual Registry Number. If you update your registery information, you will also receive an email showing what you updated so that you can correct it if necessary. Once you have read this and have at least the required information available, please scroll down to continue to the registration form and complete it.
Since I wrote the above, it has come to my attention that some person or persons are using the Registry page on the Forum to try to "view" their own status, or just poke around. If you want to view your entry, or check on a VIN # for some other Tbird, CLICK Thunderbird Registry HERE and do it from there where it is set up to handle this. NOT FROM THE WEB PAGE REGISTRATION FORM.
By trying to "search" or "view" your record or that of someone else by using the registration form, it is creating a lot of extra time spent and work. This is because every time someone looks at the blank form, it creates a record in the data base. That record is empty, i.e. devoid of all the information but it still is there taking up space. And, it costs John $$ as the form site charges by the record, regardless if it has viable information or not.
I don't think people are getting the message about what is required from the form ---- they seem to have to look at it to understand. So they click on the Registration form to view it, decide they don't want to do it, then move on. Thus an empty record is created. In fact there were almost 90 of them created last week, by just 2 or 3 persons as he can see the IP address. John does not think they are being malicious, but rather they are neglecting to read the instructions.
He can't accept any more of a workload from people who just want to surf. This is why, with the standard form on the Registry itself, he installed that PayPal firewall. There are 2 separate Registration forms - - - one for the Registry itself, and one for Squarebirds. He created this one especially for us to use since we report so many Tbirds to him. Please do not abuse the Registration Form or he may have to pull it off the Forum.. I would not want to see that happen. Please not pull up the Registration form unless you are actually going to submit information.
