My 1959 Ford Thunderbird Hardtop ~ Interior Work
The following will be a pictoral and verbal account of the work being done to renew the interior of YellowRose to my specifications. As the work continues, I will add more pictures so that you can follow the work. But first, some pictures of what my interior looked like before they pulled the seats out. This will give you something to compare against later on.
The first few pictures are of the headliner and the seats having been removed. The ceiling was inspected and no rust was found. Only glue and soundproofing material remains to be removed, the roof cleaned and new material installed, then the new headliner.
The following are pictures of what the seat areas look like now that the seats have been removed. Notice that only the drivers seat has "popcorn" or "Cheesebits", as I call them, all over the place. That, apparently, is because the drivers seat is the most used one in our Tbirds, causing the foam to disintergrate far worse than the other seats.
The driver and passenger side back seat well.
Look closely at the top right side and you will see a black plastic type tag about 3 inches long attached to the seat frame. On the top row it says 2 59 R8C-CHI. On the bottom row, BAP6366700A. I take it to be a Part # tag. It is the only one found so far.
The black garbage bag was put under the power seat temporarily to stop the crumbs from falling onto the carpet until now. It worked for awhile, until the garbage bag slipped out of place.
The following few pictures are of the new insulation having been put in place yesterday.
The remaining frames have been left blank for future pictures.
