One of the first American all transistor, totally tubeless, models. The Zenith Royal 2000 AM/FM radio featured eleven transistors with automatic frequency control. This radio sold for $189.95 when first introduced in 1959 and was sold until the mid-sixties. This Zenith catalog picture shows a 1958 Thunderbird with polo playing equipment in the background uses a modification of the Ford Thunderbird advertisement of the time. Instead of "World's most distinctive car" it reads "World's most distinctive FM/AM radio."
