![]() I just got a 64,(I got it for parts for my squarebird, but I may try to fix it) from another forum user. It came partially disassembled, and I'm trying to put it back together...its like a puzzle. lol
First question, did it come with a alternator? Second question, location of hot wire to coil??? external resister, or built in to coil?(good pics anybody?) And third of many stupid questions at this time... how and to what, are the lower fan shroud connected. I got this type.... |

![]() Hi Scott, the answer to the first question is yes, it came with an alternator. Below you will find a couple of pix of it. Here is a website that will tell you a lot about your '64 Tbird.
http://automotivemileposts.com/tbird...lections.shtml As for the other questions (not stupid questions...), regarding the fan shroud, the bottom section of it should attach to the bottom of the metal support that supports the radiator. The top section to the top of the radiator, as I recall. But one will have to make darn sure you do not drill into the core of the radiator. Use short sheet metal screws with a sleeve on the drill bit to prevent you from drilling to deeply and puncturing the radiator. Here are the pix of the '64 alternator.

![]() There is a pink resistance wire that goes in the main ignition wire circuit . This connects to the red/green wire that goes to the + side of the coil. There is also a secondary wire that runs from the + side of the coil to the solenoid that gives the coil 12V on startup. The wires run along the top of the driver side valve cover.

![]() Do yourself a favor and purchase the electrical and body assembly manuals, along with a repair manual. The assembly manuals are incomplete and not always correct, and you need a friggin' magnifying glass to read them, but it's better than being completely blind.
