    FIA Race History of squarebird?

Does anyone have any source/knowledge of these 58-60 thunderbirds being road raced (sports car) either in U.S. or Europe in late 50s under FIA or Sports Car Club of America rules? Pan America? Looking to possibly race one in vintage sports car racing.

John, if you will look in the Thunderbird Production History section of our Forum, you will find some information on the racing history of Thunderbirds. They were racing Babybirds back then and later Squarebirds in those days. Here is some information on the Holman-Moody Squarebirds they were building and racing.

You can also find more racing history in several books that have been written over the years. I would suggest checking into those written by William Wonder, Thunderbird Restoration Guide, 1958-1966 (Motorbooks Workshop). I am not sure he covers the racing history in his book because I can't find my copy. Other books are by Alan Tast, who is a member of this Forum, and also the Technical Editor for the Vintage Thunderbird Club, International (VTCI). His Thunderbird Fifty Years and Thunderbird, 1955-1966 (Motorbooks International American Classic Series) books I seem to remember covers some racing history. However, again, I have not been able to locate the books of his that I have.. I do not know where I put them! But, if Alan sees this, perhaps he will give you some information that might help.

This website lists several Ford Thunderbird race cars from the 90's.

You might find some info in the IMSA organization.

Here is information on a 1955 Babybird that has been restored for racing and modeled after one that was racing in the earliest years of Tbird history.
