Windlace clips - how do they install?

    1959 convertible

The first photo shows the original clip which has 2 edge mounted tabs which bridge adjacent holes. The next photos show the new clips which has center tabs but they do not engage the hole sides at all.

Who has used these new clips?

    Thanks,
    Chris

On the opposite side of the 2 tabs that fit into the hole, there should also be 2 small tabs on the inside of the clip. By using a needle nose pliers, you can squeeze these 2 small tabs and that will spread and tighten the 2 tabs that fit in the hole. It it took a little playing with and some bending, but I was able to get the new clips to fit tightly.

      Nyles,

Is this what you mean? Or do I misunderstand?

      And thanks...

I broke the tabs off and used a sheet metal screw to attach the clip. I first started trying to pry the tabs apart, but they break very easily.

The method shown in my last picture and described by Nyles worked perfectly. A firm grip is required but the result is a tight clip.

          Thanks Nyles…..
