Default Photo Visit To Thunderbirds Southwest..

One of the companies who provides specialized parts, repair, restoration services, classic car sales is Thunderbird Southwest, owned by Lance & Pam Herrington here in Texas. They are located in La Grange, about a 2 hour drive east of me towards Houston. I have known Lance and Pam for quite a few years now, and they are always interesting to talk with. Lance, for years now, has provided the heavy duty sway bars that many of us have switched to over the years. People all across this Nation and from overseas, send their Tbirds and other classic cars for his team to repair, restore or customize.. That is how well his work is thought of. At the moment, he has two Babybirds and two Flairbirds in the shop that they are in the process of repairing or completely restoring. His show room has classic cars to die for sitting on them. If you ever have the chance to visit him, you should do so. It will be an interesting visit. For those who will never get the chance to do so, here is a taste of what you are missing... Here also is their website and contact information.

Did you get one of those, "$100 coffees"? Lance has an air field in back of his place where customers fly in. Lance is quite a guy to speak with. Last time, he was telling me about how a couple guys almost robbed him. They didn't succeed (thank God) but Lance gave them quite a chase. - Dave

Cool

Looks like a cool place to hang out for the day Love the overhang concept ( signage ) and a cap to protect the classics parked outside.

Dave, I am not a coffee drinker, so it is a no on the $100 coffee! Lance recently told me that he sold his airplane and is not flying anymore. He has not told me that story about almost being robbed, but over the years, he has told me a lot of stories about events, and people. His airport has a grass landing field, and the Drive In/Fly In event we attended some years back was at a full service airport with concrete runways, taxiways, and parking. It was at that event that the picture of "Tweety Bird" and Phil Cline's "Dream Catcher" RV-6A was taken sitting next to each other on the flight line with Phil and a friend in the airplane preparing to take off.. Here is a pic of that, and Lance's grass landing field...

Hi Kirsten, that is his parts car field, where he can take parts from to repair cars. At one time, he had about 40 (I think) little Nash Metropolitan cars that he bought up some years ago. There are two of them in his display room, and the rest that were in good condition were repaired and all sold. He still has some of them left as parts cars... Here is a pic of one that you would probably love! Also a link to show you more pix of this car. I saw my first Metropolitan back around 1954 and thought it was a really cute car.
