    Maximum backspace

    Hi guys/gals

Been looking into wheels a bit, while I have read many posts about wheel sizes and spacing/offsets. Does anyone know the maximum backspace you can have on a squarebird and still clear the fender skirts? I think the standard is 3 3/4. But what is the maximum you can go to say 4 1/2 as an example?

More backspacing pull the wheel in board, away from the skirts

Great thanks! Sorry I thought it was done from the front of the rim to the mounting hub, my bad. Well I guess the question would be what is the maximum offset?

You should measure your existing wheel and tire set, determine the offset, the measure how much clearance you have with them. This website here is a good tool to help you with the correct terminology.
