    elijahbird7's Revamped '59 Squarebird

Jim Elijah just recently had his old light blue top replaced with a new dark blue one. It really sets the car off better with the darker blue color, IMHO.. Here are a couple of pix.

Yes it is that time of the year for many of us.

              Hibernation Tips:

              1) Stabil in the tank.
              2) Enough fuel in your tank
              3) Bounce sheets in the interior of your classic
              4) Trickle charger
              5) Winter blanket

Yes, got rid of the wire wheels. Between my 56 Tbird and the 59, I had 9 flat tires in about 3 years. Since the tires on both cars were new, new tubes were put in place when installed. The new tubes are crap! All of the tubes split where there is a seam when going from the sidewall to the tread area, none against the rims as I had expected.
So both cars now have their optional hubcaps on steel wheels.

I don't know when or why wire wheels became in vogue on Thunderbirds. Other than the 62-63 Sport Roadsters I don't remember any Thunderbirds having wire wheels from the factory. I saw lots of 55-57 Thunderbirds back in the day and none of them had wires. I think it was a 70's thing like leisure suits and platform shoes. To tell you the truth I wish they would go the same way.

I see you have the similar viewpoint that Jim Reed just expressed regarding K-H rims. If ya'll have not see the post I just made regarding them, check out the thread I put in Anything Goes with his comments....

John: Wire wheels were an option in '64 also like with the roadster option ( tonneau cover ) but would be the 14 " wheel . The standard wheel for 64 became 15 " as you know .
