Max indication on the speedo is 80 mph - that's gonna' have to be some big ole' wings to let that Thunderbird "take flight"
$5434 - in today's money that would be about $22K
Gas crunch was in full swing and the Tbird still had a V8 although most likely a small one. Wonder how it sold and what the competition was.
Cool - - thanks -
Eric agreed, gas guzzler and could do the quarter mile in under a minute Mostly a highway car with velour seats.
Don't see many of them at the S&S'S and our club only has one.Dano Calgary,Alberta Canada

1977 Thunderbird TV Ad
Thanks for the posting of that ad! This is the other years of the Tbird that I wanted to own. When the 1977-1979 Tbirds came out, I wanted one bad, especially the 1979 Heritage Edition. I loved the style, that band over the roof, the moon roof, but the wifey said we could not afford it and it was to luxurious for our needs. So I never got to own one. Here is some information regarding production. They were pretty well received in the first two years, but in the final year, because of fuel costs, they downsized the engines, and made other changes. Interestingly, they were the first unitized body Thunderbirds since the 1966's.. and I think the last.
1977 Total Production - 318,140

1978 Total Production - 352,751, including the Diamond Jubilee version.

1979 Total Production - 284,141, including the Heritage Edition. Sales were down the last year. I do not know why there is a picture of a Convertible 1979 on this webpage. To my knowledge, a Convertible was not produced in the 1977-1979 years.
