It all comes apart from inside the trunk. remove the bulb holders then you will see speed nuts on the back side of the bezel holding that on. the lenses and metal rings are attached to the bezel from behind.

yellow cobra yes i have the whole assemblys out of the car and apart

what im talking about is the actual piece (metal) that the bulb sits in and seals the back of the lens' there is a gasket between them and the plastic lens it looks like they should just fall apart but something is holding them i know you buy NOS lens' the metal bulb holder doesnt come with them

Macs in NY sells the pigtails for about twenty bucks:

          B8S-13410-A. The Back up pigtail: B9MF 15536-A
They're also called-out under their own part number in the MPC:

I think they are just an interferrence fit, which bugs me because back then Ford wasn't serious about grounding. They simply used pot metal (zinc) for a good ground. In modern cars, each lamp socket includes a separate ground wire.

"...what im talking about is the actual piece (metal) that the bulb sits in..." The bulb sits inside a metal socket (like most bulbs).

Now, you are asking about the rear lamp body, and how it comes apart. yellow98cobra said it all comes apart from behind, and it certainly does.

              51764-S (screw) goes through:
              13440 (rear lamp body),
              13461 (gasket),
              13450 (lens),
              and threads into 13489.

Look at the bottom picture, showing the back side of the assembly. Each light has four screws (top, bottom, LH & RH sides). Carefully remove all twelve screws and each lamp assembly will come apart.

              Hope this helps. - Dave

If it's not the compressed dried gasket holding them, very possibly some sort of cement was used during assembly to allow things to stay in alinement until they were attached to the bezel and backing plate. I've had some fall apart, and had to pry others with a putty knife.

If your lenses have fine cracks or are faded, it is time to change them. Sun bakes out the polymers, causing them to become brittle.

Most of our vendors carry these parts as NEW. Ask for these part numbers. They vastly improve the looks of your car:
