I had hoped to have her painted cashmere blue by this week. However that does not seem all that important at the moment.
I just found out the body man who did all the great rust repair and metal work on my car died of a heart attack last weekend.
In the scheme of things waiting for another couple of weeks to get this car does not matter. That man who gave his best on every vehicle he worked on will be missed. I am proud that my car will be a rolling tribute to his memory, it was some his best work.Comment

Rust Be Gone - 1959 Convertible build
Hi Daniel,
My condolences on the loss of a friend and a master body man. Hopefully, he was able to teach those who he worked with his skills so that they can carry on the traditions of a master craftsman now departed from us. Yes, you will always be able to say his name, with pride, when asked who did the great body work on the car. I receive so many great comments regarding my interior work and paint job on Rose and am always glad to tell people about who did the work and a bit about them. She is going to look like a new car, I bet, when you get her back. That is a pretty color.

Rust Be Gone - 1959 Convertible build
Hi Lawrence, if you look back through the four pages of this Thread, you will see the pictures of what Daniel has been going through to get the rust problems fixed on his Tbird. When he is finished she is going to look beautiful again and be well restored.

The paint job is almost done. They are color sanding it now. However, we found one more area that needs rust repair. The upholstery guy was putting on the new top when he discovered the front header needs rust repair. Just another little surprise.
Here is a sneak preview of the paint job.Comment

Here it is back from body and paint. Tops Auto did a terrific job. I would recommend them to anyone. If you live in So Cal its worth the drive to Lake Elsinore to see Joey Sanchez.
We just installed the new top. Now I am doing the dash and complete interior. I am taking the dash out myself and the posts Dakota Boy just made are really helping.
About 1/2 done, still need to put in the 390 and C6 plus disc brakes, new exhaust system, etc.
Check out my license plate.Last edited by lawyercalif; November 21, 2011, 08:45 PM.Comment
