    Locked gas tank cap

Recently purchased a 58bird and found a locked gas cap. I have a key that fits but does not turn and doesn't appear to be rusted. Appreciate if anyone has ever had this experience and found a solution. I think a picture of the cap is attached here.

I would first try to spray some WD-40 or other penetrating oil into it in case the tumblers are stuck. If that doesn't work probably a chisel or screwdriver will break the lock. They usually aren't very secure.

Working on different pieces of equipment over the years I have seen this twice and I believe it is caused by fuel vapour over the years drying out pins in lock. I used a needle oiler once a day for 3 or 4 days and it freed right up.
