    scumdog Does Australia!

Here is what Tom ~ scumdog had to say and some pix he sent while visiting Australia!

    "Hi Ray,
Christine and I were at ‘Cooly Rocks’ a rock & roll and hot rod festival at Coolangata a couple of weekends ago and I took a few pics.

The first car is a very customised early 50’s FJ Holden, the blue ute below it has standard front end which shows how much the custom FJ has been altered.

The yellow Chev is a body style familiar to you Stateside guys - only this one is fitted with a 302 Ford motor and trans!

The last couple of pics are of the only Bullet Bird I saw, there were a handful of Baby Birds and a Flair Bird convertible but can’t recall any Square Birds.

I’m now back in NZ where it’s frosty and cold! Tom".

    Here are the pix!

      More scumdog Does Australia!

Tom just added some more info and pix for me to upload so here ya go!

      "Hi Ray,
Since Chris (bird 60) wanted a rear photo of the customised FJ Holden I thought I would forward one.

I also threw in these other pics, the yellow roadster shows how tough Aussies have it regarding hot rods, notice the large front fender and the chrome rods attached to the headers - presumably to stop somebody getting burned if they lean on the headers!?

I also saw a lot of right-hand drive Mustangs etc so the Aussies must have some laws regarding left-hand drive cars too.
The last three pics are of an unusually customised Buick, from the glass down it’s all 53 (?) Buick but the roof and interior are from a late model Buick.

I MAY have a photo of the Buick’s ‘brag board’ with some info on it, if so I’ll forward it."

Thanks Tom & Ray. It would have looked a lot better if the choice of Indicator & Brake Lights were different. They look like the very plain & common ones used for trailers.(IMO)

I can't remember exactly the rule on left hand drive cars. But it might be pre 1989 you can drive as is but after you need to convert to RHD.
