    Flex/Rag Joint Replacement

Hey guys! My 63 had ridiculous steering slop, and I tracked it down to a bad flex (rag) joint. The rubber of the joint was all but gone.

The replacement rag joints I've found online use bolts to attach the joint to the collars which attach to the gear box and steering column. My problem is that my old joint doesn't use bolts, but rather studs (I guess that's what you'd call them) that appear to be pressed into each collar. I found a replacement at O'Reilly's but it was too small. Mac's has this at the link, but I'm uncertain since O'Reilly's said theirs would fit, but didn't: http://www.macsautoparts.com/ford_th...1962-1976.html

    So, finally for my questions:
    1) Do I need to press the two studs out on each collar?
    2) Where do I get a proper flex joint replacement if I am able to press or drill the studs out, or will that one at Mac's work?

    Thanks much Gents.

Remove your old joint, take several pictures because it only goes together one way, drill then press the old rivets out, and use a new rubber/ fiber piece with the new bolts instead of the factory rivets.
