    Front right lower Quarter panel

    Well all

I'm at my at the end. After ordering a front right fender panel for my 60 (panel that goes between the front door gap and the front wheel 15 months ago and now been told they can't get it and no one has them I'm stuck!

No body appears to have these panels, I've contacted, Larry's, tbird HQ, Pat Wilsons, classic sheet metal and just can't seem to get one anywhere.

Doesn't anyone have one laying around or know somewhere were I can possibly get a hold of one. It is the missing piece to my resto!

    Any suggestions are welcome.

    Regards

Have you tried Carl Heller (partsetal). If he doesn't have a new piece he may be able to cut one off of one of his parts cars.

If Carl does not have what you are looking for, there are others here in the For Sale Forum that have Squarebird parts cars. Perhaps they will have something.

Yeah, I am still hopeing I can get a hold of a replacement panel. One of the key things I need is the curve at the bottom on the panel (front, bottom door curve) that connects to the body. Mine is all rusted there.

          Front right lower Quarter panel

This morning, I was talking with Carl Heller ~ partsetal, regarding that right front lower quarter panel that Wyldie is needing. He gave me the information regarding the company that he gets his repair panels from, someone I had never heard of before! The company is Classic Sheet Metal Company, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Bob and Dave Jones have been making sheet metal repair panels for about 30 years, for 1955-1971 Tbirds, and now also 1963 Galaxies/ Classic, 1949-1972 Fords, 1968-1969 Fairlane 500 - Torino, Mustang 1964-1986, Ford Maverick 1969-1975, and Chevy 1961-1968! I have spoken with Bob and he has given me permission to add them to our Advertisements Forum, including their contact info and website, which I am about to do.

Wyldie and others, here is the bad news. Bob stocks the left hand LRFF-35-L - 58-60 Front Fender Bottom repair panel, but NOT the right side... Because the company who makes these repair panels had the die that made these panels break and they can no longer make the right side. Which probably explains why Wyldie has not been able to find this repair panel new. Bob told me that he just had one of the parts companies looking for that same panel, with no luck. That leaves Wyldie having to find one off a parts car. Carl told me that as soon as the heavy rain there lets up and he can get to his parts, he will see if he has available what Wyldie needs.

Below is a picture from the website of the left hand version of the part that I think Wyldie needs. If that is the part, then I gather that Wyldie needs the one just like it for the right side. Wyldie, can you post a pic of the actual section that is rusted out? I have made the assumption that it is what is shown here.

Michael, do I have the right panel in mind that you are needing? I posted the pic of what I thought it was that you are describing. Later this morning, I am going to do some calling around to the various Tbird parts houses to see if anyone has this part, (once I know for sure I am barking up the right tree and have the part right) and see if I can find one. Or find another company who is making that repair panel. However, from what Bob told me at Sheet Metal Co., the only one he knew of that was making that panel was the company he was buying them from. I gathered that the owner was not planning on trying to repair or replace the die that broke... So that is not good news, if that is the case. Maybe, I can find one parts house that still has one in stock.. I will let you know. But please... confirm that I was looking for the correct panel, as in the picture I posted.. Thanks!

UPDATE: Michael, if you will confirm exactly which panel you're are needing, with a picture, I WILL call that company that Grez just posted about and check on it!

Not sure if he is looking for right quarter lower front patch panel or right front fender rear of front wheel but their is an ad on craigslist in the Cleveland, Ohio area that has a right quarter front lower panel for sale and a oem right front fender for sale. Ad was up several times updated about 13 days ago. Contact number (440) 458-5647. Other option would be to have someone fabricate the panel.

                  Front right lower Quarter panel

Here is the story I am getting on that right front lower quarter repair panel. It seems that Schott Metal Products of Akron, Ohio is the company that makes all these repair panels for our Squarebirds (and may other years). I just talked with them and they said that they have not been able to find anyone who is in the business of repairing these dies. I was told by one of our Tbird parts houses, that the left front lower quarter repair panel die broke about 5 years ago, and 2 years later, they found someone who was able to get it repaired and put back into production. However, that does not seem to be the case now. She said they have a ton of back orders they could fill for that panel IF they could find someone to repair their die. She also said that back in the day, in the 50-60's era, they used to have their own foundry, but they do not have it any longer. She said it was probably their own foundry that was making these repair panel dies. I gather they are still looking for someone who has the ability to repair that die. But at the moment, there is not a new right front lower quarter repair panel that I know of, to be found anywhere today...

It appears that this Bloodhound has had success again, this time for Mike! I keep my nose to the ground, constantly sniffing, sniffing, and networking... It looks like I have found the last repair panel for that part of the right fender, in captivity! I may have more information on that part and the left side and perhaps some others, later. I will let you know!
