Vent window assembly/ motor. Door mirror

To remove the vent window assembly and motor, do you have to have the main window and regulator out of the door?

How does one tighten the mirror on the driver side door?

You do not have to remove the window or regulator to remove the vent window. If you don't have one I suggest you get a shop manual. It has detailed information on removing the vent window. If the mirror is loose at the base loosen the set screw in the front and remove the mirror. That will give you access to the base. Tighten the two screws on the base if it is loose.

Thank you for the answers, I now can tighten the mirror up. I did remove my drivers side vent window last fall to replace the gasket thought I forgot how I did it ( senior moments). I do not understand how the vent assembly comes out with the motor attached, probably comes out through the bottom, possibly this is what i'm forgetting. I do have the three manuals; Shop, Interior and Electrical assembly though at times it is good to hear from someone like yourself if one cannot find what they are looking for in the manuals.

If you can't figure it out let me know and I'll dig my '66 manual out from the garage. I think you have to remove the motor first before the vent window will come out.

I took the motor off of the assembly passenger side vent window cleaned it and put fresh grease, so that is all set, the frame itself I'm having a problem with I read the shop manual which makes it sound like it should just come out, that is not happening, I would rather not take it out but the weatherstripping needs replacing, so it has to come out any suggestions would be appreciated.

If it seems too tight to come out you may have to loosen the regulator on the door window and the rear window track to give it some room. Once the motor is removed and the bolts are out there's nothing else that holds it in place. Are you sure you have all the bolts out. Maybe the diagram will help.

The vent window is out, for myself somewhat akin to a root canal doing it.
