I saw a Youtube where a guy uses 0000 steel wool to clean exterior glass, claims no scratches. Anyone try this on old windshields?

Using ANY abrasive on glass is insane unless you're planning on using a polishing compound afterward to get the scratches out. Glass is hard and it scratches easily. Ask anyone who throws a wiper blade but keeps running their wipers. Steel scratches glass and so does plain dirt. Stones pit glass or crack it. Use alcohol-based cleaner first. If stains won't come out you can polish glass using correct equipment.
Same goes for chrome. NEVER use any kind of abrasive on beautiful chrome. Stainless should be polished using rouge and a buffing wheel. With use comes wear so we sacrifice our daily drivers to keep the classics looking good as long as possible.Member, Sons of the American Revolution

I remember this as stuff, I don't know if it was any good, just thought about it after reading post.,"You're never too old to become younger".! (M. West)
