    Odd lighting issue

The light in my transmission position display turns off when I take it out of park.

    Possible poor earth/ground?

Mine does the same at random, moving the shifter, hitting a bump can cause it to flicker or go out. (Must fix it one day....)

I've gotten some consistency on this issue. The display is only lit when I am in any non-forward gear. Could this be how the factory intended?

The answer comes from the Thunderbird Electrical Assembly Manual on page 92 (FS821-1). It shows the wire color as Blue/Red and it comes from the same dimmed circuit as all the other dash lights.

If your light flickers you must have a loose connection or a bad ground. - Dave
