    BMWR75's (really the Ms.) new 1959 T-bird

The wife and I saw this at a car cruise two Saturday's ago. We had been thinking about a classic car for a while. The price was right and we ended up buying it.

The gentleman we bought it from had already done a lot of nice work (new exhaust front to back, new tires, new shocks, new brake shoes, new rubber brake lines, high volume oil pump). The interior is all original. The exterior has been repainted once is a color that matches the original color very closely.

It's a pretty rare color. I always liked the tan leather seat/door panel color combination. I noticed that someone replaced the vacuum windshield washer with an electric one from a later Ford. You also have an underhood brake booster which is a plus. Most '59's have an underdash booster. It must be a later build. Best of luck with it.

Hi Scott, I just saw the pix you posted! She is a beautiful Squarebird! One of the pix answers the question I had about what was under the hood. I see you have the Bendix power booster instead of the under dash K-H booster. If you wanted to upgrade that, you should be able to replace the single MC with a dual MC, I would think. I also see you said she has 14" rims on her. She is a very pretty Tbird and seems to have been well cared for. What is your wife going to name her? Do you know if she is registered in the Tbird Registry? You can check to see if a previous owner has done so by going to www.tbirdregistry.com typing in the VIN # and see if it has a registry number assigned to it already. If not, you can register it there. What is the Color code on the Data Plate? I am trying to figure out what color that is. In fact, if you don't mind saying, what are the codes on the data plate? It is found on the pillar of the drivers side door once you open the door. If you can tell me the codes, I can tell you what she was when she left the factory and what day and month she was scheduled to be built.

Ray - I believe that is Beachwood Brown.

Hi Eric, Yes, it certainly looks like it to me also. Except that Beechwood Brown is not a 1959 Color. That was one reason why I was asking Scott for the Data Plate data to see what color code was on the plate...

Ooops - that's right - so probably Sandstone Metallic for the '59.
That would be interesting to see the data plate info.

Yes, Eric, I think so too. Unless someone in the past did paint it Beechwood Brown.... Hopefully, Scott will see this and give us the codes on the Data Plate. That should tell us what it left the factory as so many years ago.

Here is the data information from Scott's Data Plate.

                          63A K 2Y 17H 4 1

So it looks like we were right about it having a Sandstone Metallic paint job when it left the plant.
