I found a 1969 ford galaxie country squire station wagon with a 429 engine. Does anyone know if this 429 will drop right into a 59 T-bird?

I once saw a guy's '59 with a 429. I think he said he "had to flip the crossmember to get it down in there" and the air cleaner was still too high to close the hood. Maybe others have done it differently. -
It will fit. I have a 460 in my car.
You will need a Torker II or Performer intake manifold and you will then have about 1 to 1 1/2 inches to spare with the hood clearance.Comment

Hey Greg, so are the motor mounts still stock? Does anyone know the difference between a 430 and a 429? (don't say 1) I ran into an old friend at the gas station and he has an old Lincoln with the 430 - he said he's going to put a different engine in it so I may be able to get the 430.
Mike, what is the "cross member" you're talking about? Can't be the round bar under the engine.Comment

previous owner made some solid steel shims and ran a huge bolt up through the center of them, plus through the original 460 motor mount.Comment
