transmission leakage

Is there a drain tube release on my 62 bird so if there is to much tranny oil it will purge out through this drain tube. Last time I was under the car I saw a tube coming down on the passenger side door. Also on my dip stick it says to check the tranny while the car is idling could It also be checked with the engine off for a accurate reading. Thank you Larry.

Yes, there is a vent tube on the passenger side of the transmission. You must check the transmission with it running and warm to get an accurate reading.
