If it was a mathematical quiz I probably would have flunked.
God knows, I have tried for year to get Robin trained in the ART of the stick shift. She wants nothing to do with it. Our '59 came as a stick as well. Nope, she wanted it converted to a COM (so I did).

As a life long stick shift driver (my daily driver has been a stick since my first car in 1986 and 3 of my 5 cars today are), I'm embarrassed to say that I failed this.
However, in many modern cars the answer would be 6 since they are 6 speed transmissions.
In my BMW 318ti the answer is nothing because the shift pattern looks like this:
