Bolts used for steering gear insulators?

    Hello all,

My name is Jan. As a favour to a friend I'm making him a set of replacement steering gear insulators for his 1963 Thunderbird. It is a solid metal spacer (first photo) and not an exact copy of the original design that is part rubber and screws into the steering gear (second photo).

Does anyone know what length bolts are originally used on Thunderbirds?

    thank you.

The Ford parts book shows 1 1/8".

Thank you for responding John. I thought 1 1/8" seemed too short for a bolt that goes through the frame rails into the steering gear insulators, so I did a bit more searching and found a thread on a different Thunderbird forum. One member measured them to be 3". http://www.vintagethunderbirdclub.ne...7fda2aea45438a

3" seems right, taking into account this drawing I found on the website of Thunderbird Headquarters.
      - They list the steering gear insulators for 61-66, #3C716.
      - bolts 61-64: 3 x #351988-S
      - bolts 65-66: 1 x #351988-S, 2 x #351989-S (likely a bit shorter or longer than the other one).

It wouldn't be the first time that the parts book is incorrect. It lists the same bolt for different applications. 3" seems more logical.
