    Exhaust Head Pipe Gasket Leak

    I've also posted this on the 58-60 section in case someone who only goes there has an answer.

    My 430 has been rebuilt, and the exhaust is leaking at the head pipe gasket. The 430 has a flat gasket -- I'm not sure what the 352 has.

    Is there some sealer that can be used between the gasket and head pipe? Or what if I used a double gasket?

    I need some advice ASAP because the engine is close to coming back home

      No sealer on that. Not sure what though.

          Just a flat composite type exhaust gasket on both the 352cid and the 430cid. They are just different shape/size that is all...

              Make sure the studs allow the inlet pipe to be drawn tightly onto the exhaust manifold. This may be the source of the leak or a possible crack in the manifold.

                  The engine is out, so I have a real good look.

                  The exhaust engine manifold flange looks smoothe and flat.

                  I think that the problem is in the head pipe flange. I can see that the area without the holes are where the leak is. I used a flie to check for flatness, and it is low in that area.

                  Is there a fix, or do I need new H-Pipes?

                  Has anyone used the aftermarket H-Pipes, and do they fit well?
