    Squarebird owners near Fresno Ca?

I have found a T-bird club in fresno but when I contacted them they stated only up to 57 birds in the club! I've seen a few Squarebirds around Fresno / Clovis area. If your from this area let me know, I'd like to get some ideas and maybe we could get a club going.

Bob how can they call themselves a T-Bird Club and only have 57's. They should call it The Baby Club.Go for it, start your own club, get strong membership and see what they say then. I can't believe they are that anal, perhaps they also swear by Barrett Jackson and the pipe dream about how much they will get for their cars ??????

Why are the owners of the Baby Birds so arrogant (generally speaking. Some are quite nice)? Our Birds sold much better than theirs. Compared to the competition, their performance was also pretty anemic.
I was in a show once against a nice '56. The owner was the biggest a-hole I've ever met. I was trying to share a little camaraderie with a fellow TBird owner but the guy acted like I was a leper. He basically told me my '60 was not in the same class as his '56 although mine was restored to a much higher standard. He didn't "count squarebirds as true TBirds".

It was sure nice walking past him with my 1st PLACE TROPHY after my lowly black '60 blew him out of the competition! I told him I'd consider trading him for his 2nd place car, but he would have to come up with extra cash to make it worth my while (Wasn't really interested in trading, but it sounded like a good line). ha.

            What a jerk.

Casey TOUCHE!!! I would have loved to have seen the look on his face when your name and 60 were called. Perhaps he now knows that these birds hold their weight in competition.
Having had a 57,in another life back east, there was a wrong misconception that being the original years 55-57, it was the ONLY T-Bird for a collector.
I have grown to appreciate the lines and glamour, of the other years especially the " squarebirds".

                Hey Dano.
You know, I also really like the earlier Birds and with few exceptions, I have a real appreciation for most '40s and '50s American cars. I just love the different stylings and characteristics - regardless of the make, model, or manufacturer. It's a trivial matter to me which car came first or what manufacturer invented a V8 or whatever...when I see a neat old car rolling down the street, I just like the look of it.

Wouldn't life be grand if all we had to worry about was who's car was better, which make had more compression, who's transaxle was more durable, etc.? Can't we just appreciate all of these vehicles for the time and craftsmanship they represent? It was a time of unbridled enthusiasm and forward thinking the likes of which we are unlikley to ever see again (I read yesterday where some school in Colorado "outlawed" the game of tag on the playground - how's that for a rugged frontier spirit)?

I have a neat old Olds that I'm making into a 50's style cruiser. It is night and day from my beloved squarebird but I love it the same. It's just cool! I never owned an Oldsmobile before but I sure like the lines of the old girl so I bought it.
It's about having fun - right?!

Casey, I agree totally with your outlook on classic cars. It's too bad that the " others " get all caught up, in the one upsmanship that we see day to day.As far as I am concerned,
it fantastic that these old classics, seem to be growing and growing. In our circle of S&S weekly, there are a lot more classics than muscle cars showing up and they are in demand.
Just recently on our site, was the post from RustyCA that has restored a 60, for his 16 year old son. It looks great and the important thing is that the younger generation is starting to appreciate them more and more. Us old ##**@@ will be gone and then we need them to carry on.
It's funny you mentioned Olsmobile, as my wife and I were up helping out a buddies son. shoot a small film with the 58, his thesis for upcoming university and there was a 56 Oldsmobile 88. Great lines, big boat and man was she looking nice. My wife and I are thinking about it, as the owner does not want to or have the resources to take it to the next level.
We will see what happens as my problem is space???

My goal with the '53 Olds is to have it back on the road by the Spring. I plan on tossing the keys to my 17-year-old daughter so she and "10 of her closest friends" can pile in that old boat and take it to prom. The thing is built like a tank and has power steering, power brakes, etc. It's VERY easy to drive.
All she asks for is a bad-a** stereo to be put in it.
Well of course, dear... ha, ha.

Doesn't all that chrome on the dashboard, grilles etc just make you want to drive them.
