1958 Thunderbird Convertible 1/24 Scale Die cast
by Danbury Mint

This model by Danbury Mint was released a few years back. It is still currently available. It retails for $115. It is an expensive model, but it is stunning and very accurate replica of one of the finest and rarest of all Thunderbird cars. The car is in Monarch blue with a matching blue and white vinyl interior. The level of detail of this model is simply incredible. Even the emergency brake cables are accurately replicated. The car can be shown with a bumper that has a continental kit or one without one. The bumpers can be changed in seconds. The little gas doors on both bumpers reveal a tiny gas filler cap!

The model has a very high level of fit and finish. The door hinges are invisible when the doors are closed. The tolerances of the model are so tight that a special plastic tool is included with the model so that you can open and close the trunk and hood.

This model is destined to be a heirloom

Doors open and front seats fold down.

Detailed engine compartment.

Trunk has a replicated Burtex lining and show the top mechanism spare tire or jack.

Detailed undercarriage. Note the emergency brake cables. Transmission oil pan has a large decal stating "crafted in China" just like the original 1958 Thunderbird. .. Just joking. The original Thunderbirds were made in Wixom, Michigan.

Cloth textured roof is removable. Spare tire and extra bumper with continental kit are included as accessories. Special tool to open trunk and hood is shown in foreground.

1958 Thunderbird convertible looks right fueling up at a Sinclair Gas Station (also available from Danbury Mint).
